Today's Freshly Cut Beef: Insomnia

Forgive me if my writing and/or spelling is sloppy. It's 5 in the AM right now... Can't sleep. Again. Been having problems sleeping for the last two weeks. Thought I'd throw a new post out there. Just finished watching American Beauty. Fantastic movie. Just fantastic. An absolute masterpiece.

Not sure why I can't sleep. Probably a combination of things. I can't figure out what seems to be wrong, but I can't help but feel like something's missing. Not sure what it is. I feel almost, constricted, bound, cornered. I shouldn't feel like there's things I can't do. I am an adult, right? Wrong. I am nothing but me. The term adult is but a mere title. But what use is a title that is given, and not earned? I shouldn't be labeled when I hit a certain age. I shouldn't be bound to what I can, or can't do by age. Age is just a state of mind, right? Wrong. Age is just a number. Something created by man. I don't believe I was put here to be counted on like a calendar. Or to follow a set path, or a certain set of rules.

I believe I was put here, to simply enjoy life.

Titles, labels, numbers. All useless. All created by us. To make ourselves feel better, and more secure. Was there not life before all of these simple markers? Now I know society is set up in a way where all of these things are necessary for co-existence... but why do things have to be this way? Why is greed such a powerful human emotion? Why can't everybody just be satisfied with being content?

Life is short. Why can't we just enjoy it now? We don't know how things are going to end (or when for that matter). You can't take your money with you when you die, and the same goes for all of your meager possessions. None of this matters. This computer, this bed, this room, these words. None of it. There is no purpose, but to enjoy life. Unfortunately things are not so simple. We all suffer from the human condition. What a horrible reality. There are ways to temporarily escape, but it is just a mere tease until we're finally set free. "What do you mean?" you ask? I don't quite know. What I do know is that something will happen one day. To each and every one of us. When? I have no idea. Just be patient.

So, maybe it's normal to feel the way I feel. Maybe it's not. I have no idea anymore. Nor, do I even want to know. Who really cares? It's not important. I just want to enjoy life. Unfortunately there are things that limit my enjoyment. Something I like to call "Life". Although life can be enjoyable, it can also be a pain. Life doesn't care about your plans. Your hopes, your dreams, your aspirations. Life happens. Deal with it. I have completely checked out. I feel almost as if there is nothing left to worry about. It could be worse right? Of course it could. It always could be...

I'll probably just pull an all-nighter. At this point, I'm passed the point of no return anyway. I continue to scratch my noggin'. Ugh...

Why am I here?!

Quick Hits Sept. 22nd!

Just a quick update. Still working on that "End of the world" blog. Trying to power through the book I'm reading on it... Big book though lol.

Saw "The Informant!" the other night. Terrible. Absolutely terrible lol. Matt Damon was fantastic but the movie was just play on awful. Hard to watch because it was so slow, and when it seemed like it was going to pick up, it didn't. The acting was great all-around though.

Habs won another pre-season game! 4-3 over Pittsburgh. Gionta, Cammalleri, and Gomez all played fantastic. The team is coming together well, and I don't think that Gainey is done making moves.

The other night, I watched "Lockdown: America's Deadliest Gangs" on National Geographic channel. Fantastic! A real scary look into prison life. It profiled the infamous "Pelican Bay" correctional facility, in Northern California. Scary stuff lol. Also watched something on that MS-13 gang. Really interesting aswell. You can actually torrent them both on www.isohunt.com and www.thepiratebay.org (the MS-13 doc. was called America's Deadliest Gang, but you can just type in MS-13 and just scroll down a bit).

Check them both out!

By the way! If you're in the market for a new PS3/360 game and you're not a big sports fan or Halo doesn't interest you (which it shouldn't, it's crap) pick up Need For Speed: Shift! I had some doubts about the game, since the last three NFS games were crap (Pro Street, Undercover, Carbon) but this one blew me away. More simulation, kind of like Gran Turismo, but with a serious crash engine, great graphics, nice car selection, and mods of course. I actually bought it, and I never buy racing games.

I finally tried the new COD WAW zombie map. Der Riese I think it's called? Pretty good. I was impressed. The best so far. But they still have those annoying fucking Hellhounds. Terrible addition. They added a new "Repair all windows" pickup. Cooooooool. The new level is spacious and gives you an incentive not to huddle in one corner the whole time cause there are three towers you have to power up in order to get the "Super" upgrade. I think it makes you're weapon UBER powerful. Not sure, never got it lol, I kept dying by like round 15.

ANYWAYS. Be back ASAP!

Something to think about, that's all.

Just sitting around...watching I love you, man. Great movie!

F.Y.I. the whole 365 photos in 365 days thing... photo a day doesn't sound like much but turns out I'm a busier person than I thought I was lol. That and Chateauguay isn't exactly oozing with inspiration and beauty. Meh.

I'll make another attempt at it in the near future.

Working on a new blog. Most likely will post it tonight...

Today's Freshly Cut Beef: 365 Pics In 365 Days!

Let's face it. The world is a shitty place to live in this day and age. To change everybody's outlook I've come up with a resolution. I'm going to take 365 photos, in 365 days (starting tomorrow Sept. 14th 2009) and upload one every day to my flickr account.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/iamthefitz/

I'm going to show everybody that world is still an ok place, and that there's still some beauty left in it. I'm mostly doing this for myself, I want to see if I have the commitment to stick with it.

Quick Thoughts Sept. 14th

Today's Freshly Cut Beef: Conscious

I don't think I've ever been more clear, and more unclear about life than ever before.

I recently read a book that opened my mind to a lot of things, but at the same time confused THE HELL out of me. It dealt with life after death (Ironically the title of the book is Life After Death by Deepak Chopra). Not so much about where we go, which religion's got it right, and how we get there... but it presented the idea (according to Akasha) that death is just a mere transition from one state of consciousness (Life) to another (or higher) state of consciousness (Death).

Now when I say that it "Confused the hell out of me" I don't mean that I didn't understand the book. I fully understood what Deepak was trying to convey. I'm just now more unsure about the after life, after I've read the book, than I was before. This was supposed to answer the questions, not lengthen the list of them.

It's strange though. I know it's weird at my age, but I feel more comfortable and at ease about death than before. I no longer see it as an end, but merely a new beginning. The beginning of something new and exciting.

I know a lot of you are sitting there saying to yourself "W.t.f. mate?! Is this guy crazy? Why the hell would you be excited about dying?". Let me ask you this. Have you ever gone through a period in your life (or even one day) where you just wanted to be someone and somewhere else? Have you ever felt like there were things that you missed out on and didn't get to accomplish, and now you regret it? Maybe death is in fact, that chance. I'm not saying that I have all the answers and I'm not trying to preach, but that's the beautiful part of death. Nobody really has the answers, so you're free to believe whatever you want!

Nobody knows what's waiting for us on the other side, and any group that tries to tell you that they have all the answers is lying to you. The truth is that no one has the answers. Not you, not me, not your neighbor, not your pastor, not Tom Cruise, and definitely not John Edward.

Being unsure is more comforting than anything. You should feel comfort in the fact that no matter what faith you follow (or if you're Atheist or Agnostic) that it won't change a thing. I simply want to present to you an interesting idea that I've just come to learn.

Every religion has it's ideas (i.e. Heaven and Hell, Re-incarnation etc.) but take a minute to sit there and think about what YOU want from the "afterlife". Now ask yourself "Why can't what I've imagined be true?". That's the beauty of it. Deepak Chopra simply says that it can be whatever you dream it to be. Like dreams, death brings you to an altered state of consciousness. It is a scientific fact that humans only use 10% of their brain while alive. Now why is that, that other 90% goes to waste? Maybe, just maybe, it lays dormant until the human body is dead. Like in a depravation chamber you no longer rely on your 5 senses, but your mind.

I like to think of life now as a mere projection. A projection of what life is supposed to be like. It's sort of a strange idea to fathom but imagine that all of this... the internet, your friends and family, your house, this country, this WORLD, is all just for you, and for you only. It is only a projection, created by your mind as per memories and ideas from a previous state of consciousness. It's weird right? But doesn't it feel like it could make sense on some level? To all the nay sayers, just stop and think for a minute. Don't throw down this idea like you would a small child (lol). Open your mind. Ask yourself "Why not?".

Maybe death is just the next step of consciousness? Why not? Maybe it prepares us for the next step and everything will be different. Maybe we can be whoever we want. Do whatever we want. Live wherever we want. Why not? Right?

All I'm saying is, open your mind to all the possibilites and stop living in that shell you call "Life". After all, if you take life to seriously, you'll never get out of it!!!

Remember....

If it fits, it's Fitz!

Today's Freshly Cut Beef: Religion

A touchy subject indeed....

I'm sure all of you, at one point or another, have asked yourselves the question; what is our purpose, here? Of course it has to be taken as a rhetorical question because nobody can really answer that... yet, the most common answer is... to be pure, and be good so eventually we can get into heaven.

Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous? Please, somebody explain to me where we went wrong. Religion is a product of man. Not of (and I use the term lightly) "God". God, in fact, is a product of man.

Religion makes a mockery of the idea of free thinking. You are told what to think, what to believe, what to do, how to feel. The only real freedom anybody has in this world, is the freedom of choice. When you take that away, what do we have left? Absolutely nothing. The human condition is an unfortunate thing. When you group the masses and incite a panic, you can get people to do anything you want.

Don't draw your conclusion yet. I am not an Atheist. I was raised Catholic, but I am now Agnostic. Agnostic (if you didn't already know) simply means that I do not believe in organized religion, but it presents the idea that there could still be a greater power. As a child, there were many situations I had been put in where I felt there was nobody I could turn to other than god, so I prayed, and prayed, and prayed... of course you know where this is going already. Nobody answered. Not god, not Jesus, nobody.

My beef with religion is that it is THE root to every war on this earth, in one way or another. It incites violence, hate, predgidism, terror, and greed. Man should not profit from faith, nor should man be murdered because of his faith. Religion is a savage hypocrisy. It preaches love and compassion, but breeds hate and genocide. Of course you can argue; "Well you can't hold Religion responsible for a few radicals who took it too far." and yes, you are right... but that brings us back to the "Human Condition". No matter what you say, or do, it won't stop.

I urge everybody to go out there and do the research. Read up on the origins of Mormon, Scientology etc. It's a joke. A ridiculous joke, turned to reality, to reap the rewards from peasants and the feeble minded, and unfortunately, the majority of the populous is feeble minded.

Take a minute to stop and think. Just off the top of your head, stop and try to count all of the Religions you can think of in your head. Now, every single one of those Religions will try and tell you that, if you don't follow that SPECIFIC faith, you will burn in Hell (another product of man, along with Satan). Next question; ask yourself "So, if only one of these religions can be right (which seems to be the case) which one is it?". There is no answer. There will never be. The answers, are in your mind. The very place that religion doesn't want you to poke around, because if even for one second, you start to doubt what they're telling you, that's strike three for them.

Religion wants you to tie yourself to one specific faith and discredit all others immediately. Stop and think about that. Explore your options. Don't be bound by one faith. Build your own. Take the time to think. Don't answer all of life's questions with one answer. Pick the ones that best suit your lifestyle.

All I'm saying is, stop doing what everybody else wants you to do. Stop doing what everybody expects you to do. Live your own life. Not the life that somebody lived 2000 years ago. Be an individual in this sea of carbon copies. Ultimately, man will be its' own downfall. Don't contribute to it. If you need something to hold on to, and something to have faith in, have faith in mankind. Have faith, that maybe one day ALL of this can change.

It can, but only if we can open our minds up to change.

If it fits, it's Fitz.

Today's Freshly Cut Beef: Gamers

First and foremost, I want everybody to know, I am a gamer. Now when I say gamer I don't mean; I play games 18 hours a day, don't bathe, have no girlfriend (unless she's on WoW), and run when I see sunlight. I mean, when I come home from work, I'm more likely to play NHL 09 than I am to watch "Two And A Half Men" (you have to wonder why anyone would).

What bugs me though (and I know this has happened to ANYONE and EVERYONE who has played online and who has a microphone) is the second you join a lobby, there has to be that ONE loser who says something along the lines of "FAG" or "DOUCHE". Now, you have to ask yourself; "What have I done to make this person say something like this? He's never met me. He doesn't know me". The truth is, nothing. You and I have done absolutely nothing to give this person any reason to make any sort of pugilistic comment.

The fact of the matter is that that person is clearly insecure about him or herself or seeking approval from others. They think if they can make their friends (or complete strangers as it may be) laugh, that EVERYBODY will love them. The sad thing though is, it just really isn't that funny....it's not! There is absolutely nothing funny about it.

The worst possible thing you can do is fire back. Even if you respond with an intelligent remark they just seem to reply with the original insult or (my personal favorite) "Your mom!". It's so sad to see just how stupid, dim witted, and mentally retarded the general population is. They really seem like apes. There's no hope.

F.Y.I.; if you're experiencing this, here's a hot tip. Just agree with everything they say. Ex. "You're a fag!" and you respond with "Yeah? So?". Seriously, just agree with EVERYTHING. What are they supposed to say? They end up looking stupid because they don't really have anything to say back. Either that or you can just mute them.

If it fits, it's Fitz!
